2014 Commonwealth Games Pool secured!

Owned by Glasgow City Council, the Tollcross Aquatic Centre will play host to The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games’ swimming competitions. With an existing 50-metre 10 lane pool, the facilities are being extensively refurbished, and a second 50-metre 6 lane warm-up and training pool is introduced. These developments will provide a permanent training and recreational facility for the local community and elite athletes alike, as well as continue to serve as a site for other major international swimming competitions.

FT Leisure engineers installed the original plant for the 10 Lane main pool, along with a small leisure pool system, over 15 years ago. We are delighted that we have now been given the contract to return and enhance this great facility.

The main pool filtration system incorporated a full Ozone Treatment system; this will be decommissioned and replaced with UV sterilisation. The ozone carbon vessels will then be converted to medium rate sand filters, to serve the newly constructed 50m training pool.  A complete new water treatment system will be provided for the training pool.

Design works have commenced with the Glasgow City Council design team. Site works commence in November 2011.
