Kingsbury Water Feature to be enhanced

The Kingsbury water feature is located in Kingsbury Square, Aylesbury, which is an open public space. Unlike a standard pool water treatment and filtration system, the feature is subject to high levels of contamination from public interface. In addition, the plantroom is located below the square and is accessed through a hatch in the public area. The day to day maintenance and operation of this plant is therefore logistically challenging.
F T Leisure were consulted to look into systems that could improve how the water is treated and how the water quality could be remotely monitored. The following enhancements will be included:
1. A new Brominator will be installed, with increased capacity.
2. An Ultra-Violet system.
3. A fully automated backwashing system, with electrically actuated valves.
4. Remote monitoring facility complete with HMI unit.
5. New Main Control Panel and electrics.
6. Sample cell strainers to prevent blockages..
7. Make-up water system to comply with current regulations.
8. Flow monitoring and interlocks
9. Upgrade to the Chemical Control system to allow remote monitoring.
10. Pipework modifications.
11. Inverter drives on the circulating pumps.
12. Rain sensors for initiation of increased bromine levels.
Work commenced on site in May 2010.
