F T Leisure are pleased to announce that we have been appointed to provide the water treatment and filtration systems for the new Plymouth Life Centre; an exciting new state of the art aquatic facility.
The new facilities, currently known as the 'Life Centre', will be built in Central Park, the traditional heart of the city's recreational and sporting life. Its architectural features will visually enrich the park and the centre will be one of the region’s premier leisure venues within the city and beyond, designed to inspire local residents of all ages and meet their sporting needs well into the 21st century. It will be a place that will inspire, excite and engage people of all ages and encourage them to lead healthy lifestyles.
The inspirational nature of the project reflects the city’s vision to become by 2020 "One of Europe’s finest, most vibrant waterfront cities, where an outstanding quality of life is enjoyed by everyone".
The £46.5 million scheme underlines Plymouth City Council’s commitment to improving leisure and cultural facilities across the city, increasing physical activity levels and helping people to lead healthier lifestyles.
The aquatic facilities include a 50m x 25m (10 lane) Main Competition Pool, a 25m x 15.5m x 5m deep Diving Pool, a free form beach area Leisure Pool incorporating a Bubble Pool, 2No GRP tubular flumes and a range of water features within the leisure waters. In addition to the water treatment and filtration systems and the feature pumping stations, F T Leisure are also providing our Diver Bubbler system within the Diving Pool.
The Main Contractor for the project is Balfour Beatty; work has already commenced on site.
