Refurbishment of 1930's Pool complete

F T Leisure have completed the refurbishment of the water treatment and filtration system at Chorlton Leisure Centre (Manchester).

The facility, which was built inthe 1930's, contains a 22.4m x 7.8m main pool, constructed from concrete and finished in glazed bricks. Our contract included the design and installation of a complete new water treatment and filtration system, to meet current standards and guidelines.

In addition to the new filtration system, the water distribution was improved with new inlets in the shallow end wall. The inlets were core drilled through the existing 80 year old structure, which was challenging. Structural Engineers were appointed to assess the condition of the pool tank wall prior to the works. The inlets have now been installed successfully.

The Main Contractor for the project was Manchester Working Limited, apppointed by Manchester City Council on a framework agreement. The site is managed by Serco Leisure.
