The Mole Hole closes!

All of the water treatment and filtration systems for the Bvlgari Spa facility within the Knightsbridge Palace Hotel is housed in basement level 6, some 26m below London street level. The excavation plan for this building required the construction of each basement level slab, as the excavation took place, so as not to affect the foundations of the surrounding buildings.
This therefore meant that a "mole hole" was require to remove the earth from the excavation. This mole hole was therefore the only major access route for large equipment to the basement levels and the window for using the mole hole was only 2 weeks.
All of the building services are in basement 6; F T Leisure therefore had only 2 days to lower all the water treatment and filtration systems down this hole and the water features to the pools on basement level 5.
Over the past 2 months, our Contracts Manager has prepared a detailed logisitcs plan, to ensure that the equipment, from multiple locations, all arrives within the short window of opportunity and that the site operations run smoothly and safely. It has been a great success.
On monday morning, the mole hole filling sequence commences.
