Victoria Leisure design commences
Earlier in 2010, it was proposed that Victoria Leisure Centre be closed as part of an £18.5 Million pound transformation programme to provide fewer but better community leisure centres across Nottingham City.
The new centre will provide a modern 25 metre 6 lane family swimming facility with separate children's pool and fun splash area, a new cafe and retail space, community gym and health suites. The existing historic clock tower will be kept and the rest of the buildings will be replaced, creating a vibrant civic presence on Sneinton Market.
FT Leisure are designing the water treatment and filtration systems for the 2 pools and all the water features for the splash area. The construction company leadng the project is Carillion and the design team includes Levitate Architects, Carillion, BSP and Furness Partnership.
The existing leisure centre is now closed so work can start on developing the new modern facility to open in 2012.
